The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 34ΙΕΖΕΚΙΗΛ ΛΔ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

The Lord judges false shepherds and becomes shepherd through his Davidic servant.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Ezekiel 34 follows the Septuagint tradition represented in this project's imported base text. It is one of Ezekiel's decisive leadership oracles. It first denounces Israel's shepherds for predatory self-care and for abandoning the weak, then reverses the image by presenting the Lord himself as the true shepherd who searches out the dispersed flock, judges between strong and weak animals within it, and secures the people under 'my servant David.' Particularly important in the LXX chapter is the tight rhetorical movement from accusation to divine substitution: what the shepherds refused to do in vv. 2-6 the Lord repeatedly declares that he himself will do in vv. 11-16. The closing covenant-of-peace section widens restoration beyond political leadership to include security, fertility, rain of blessing, release from servitude, and the public recognition formula that Israel belongs to the Lord. Versification follows the LXX.
