The Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 38ΙΕΡΕΜΙΑΣ ΛΗ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Rachel's tears yield to regathering, new covenant knowledge, and rebuilt holiness.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Jeremiah 38 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. In the Septuagint order this chapter corresponds to Jeremiah 31 in the more familiar MT numbering. It moves from the broad restoration promise for all Israel, through Ephraim and Rachel, into the promise of a new covenant written on the heart, and closes with cosmic guarantees and Jerusalem rebuilt as holy to the Lord. The discourse alternates summons, promise, lament, response, and covenant assurance while preserving the chapter order and versification as transmitted in this LXX file. Greek versification is followed here.
