Perhaps the house of Judah will hear all the evils that I am planning to do to them, so that they may turn from their evil way, and I will become merciful toward their injustices and their sins.
The reason for writing is pastoral as well as judicial: perhaps hearing the accumulated warnings will move Judah to repentance and mercy.

And Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord that he had spoken to him onto a scroll of a book.
