Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

The Lord himself is portion and inheritance, keeping his servant secure in life and beyond decay.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 15 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. In LXX numbering this psalm corresponds to Psalm 16 in the Hebrew tradition and unfolds as a psalm of trust and inheritance. It begins with a plea for preservation grounded in refuge, contrasts the Lord with the multiplied pains of rival loyalties, and then settles into the language of portion, boundary-lines, counsel, and stable presence. The final movement gathers joy, bodily security, deliverance from Hades, and the known paths of life into a confession that the Lord himself is the speaker's enduring good and delight. Versification follows the LXX.

στηλογραφία τῷ Δαυιδ φύλαξόν με κύριε ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ ἤλπισα

An inscription of David. Preserve me, O Lord, because I have hoped in you.

Opening plea of trustφύλαξόν με κύριε
The psalm begins with a succinct petition for preservation, but the ground of that plea is already stated: the speaker has taken refuge in the Lord.
