The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 40ΙΕΖΕΚΙΗΛ Μ′

καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ πέμπτῳ καὶ εἰκοστῷ ἔτει τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ πρώτῳ μηνὶ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐν τῷ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῳ ἔτει μετὰ τὸ ἁλῶναι τὴν πόλιν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐγένετο ἐπ' ἐμὲ χεὶρ κυρίου καὶ ἤγαγέν με

And it came to pass in the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the first month, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city had been taken, on that very day the hand of the Lord came upon me and he brought me there.

ἐν ὁράσει θεοῦ εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἔθηκέν με ἐπ' ὄρους ὑψηλοῦ σφόδρα καὶ ἐπ' αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ οἰκοδομὴ πόλεως ἀπέναντι

In a vision of God he brought me into the land of Israel and set me upon a very high mountain, and upon it there was something like the structure of a city opposite me.

καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με ἐκεῖ καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνήρ καὶ ἡ ὅρασις αὐτοῦ ἦν ὡσεὶ ὅρασις χαλκοῦ στίλβοντος καὶ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἦν σπαρτίον οἰκοδόμων καὶ κάλαμος μέτρου καὶ αὐτὸς εἱστήκει ἐπὶ τῆς πύλης

And he brought me there, and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of gleaming bronze, and in his hand was a builders' line and a measuring reed, and he was standing at the gate.

καὶ εἶπεν πρός με ὁ ἀνήρ ἑώρακας υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου ἰδὲ καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὠσίν σου ἄκουε καὶ τάξον εἰς τὴν καρδίαν σου πάντα ὅσα ἐγὼ δεικνύω σοι διότι ἕνεκα τοῦ δεῖξαί σοι εἰσελήλυθας ὧδε καὶ δείξεις πάντα ὅσα σὺ ὁρᾷς τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ Ισραηλ

And the man said to me, 'Son of man, see with your eyes, hear with your ears, and set your heart upon everything that I show you, because you have entered here in order that I might show it to you; and you shall declare to the house of Israel everything that you see.'

καὶ ἰδοὺ περίβολος ἔξωθεν τοῦ οἴκου κύκλῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς κάλαμος τὸ μέτρον πηχῶν ἓξ ἐν πήχει καὶ παλαιστῆς καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὸ προτείχισμα πλάτος ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ καὶ τὸ ὕψος αὐτοῦ ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ

And behold, a wall outside the house all around; and in the man's hand was the measuring reed of six cubits, each cubit a cubit and a handbreadth. And he measured the outer wall: its width was one reed and its height one reed.

καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πύλην τὴν βλέπουσαν κατὰ ἀνατολὰς ἐν ἑπτὰ ἀναβαθμοῖς καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὸ αιλαμ τῆς πύλης ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ

And he entered the gate that faced east by seven steps and measured the vestibule of the gate: it was one reed deep.

καὶ τὸ θεε ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ μῆκος καὶ ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ πλάτος καὶ τὸ αιλαμ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ θαιηλαθα πηχῶν ἓξ καὶ τὸ θεε τὸ δεύτερον ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ πλάτος καὶ ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ μῆκος καὶ τὸ αιλαμ πήχεων πέντε

And the first guardroom was one reed in length and one reed in width, and the space between the guardrooms was six cubits; and the second guardroom was one reed in width and one reed in length, and its vestibule was five cubits.

καὶ τὸ θεε τὸ τρίτον ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ πλάτος καὶ ἴσον τῷ καλάμῳ τὸ μῆκος

And the third guardroom was one reed in width and one reed in length.

καὶ τὸ αιλαμ τοῦ πυλῶνος πλησίον τοῦ αιλαμ τῆς πύλης πηχῶν ὀκτὼ καὶ τὰ αιλευ πηχῶν δύο καὶ τὸ αιλαμ τῆς πύλης ἔσωθεν

And the porch of the gateway, beside the porch of the gate, was eight cubits, and its jambs were two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward.

καὶ τὰ θεε τῆς πύλης θεε κατέναντι τρεῖς ἔνθεν καὶ τρεῖς ἔνθεν καὶ μέτρον ἓν τοῖς τρισὶν καὶ μέτρον ἓν τοῖς αιλαμ ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν

And the guardrooms of the gate were three on this side and three on that side, and the three had one measure, and the porches on this side and on that side had one measure.

καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὸ πλάτος τῆς θύρας τοῦ πυλῶνος πηχῶν δέκα καὶ τὸ εὖρος τοῦ πυλῶνος πηχῶν δέκα τριῶν

And he measured the width of the doorway of the gate: ten cubits; and the breadth of the gate itself: thirteen cubits.

καὶ πῆχυς ἐπισυναγόμενος ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῶν θεϊμ ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν καὶ τὸ θεε πηχῶν ἓξ ἔνθεν καὶ πηχῶν ἓξ ἔνθεν

And there was a one-cubit barrier before the guardrooms on this side and on that side, and each guardroom was six cubits on this side and six cubits on that side.

καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὴν πύλην ἀπὸ τοῦ τοίχου τοῦ θεε ἐπὶ τὸν τοῖχον τοῦ θεε πλάτος πήχεις εἴκοσι πέντε αὕτη πύλη ἐπὶ πύλην

And he measured the gate from the wall of one guardroom to the wall of the other, a width of twenty-five cubits, door opposite door.

καὶ τὸ αἴθριον τοῦ αιλαμ τῆς πύλης ἑξήκοντα πήχεις εἴκοσι θεϊμ τῆς πύλης κύκλῳ

And he measured the open court of the gate's porch, sixty cubits, with the gate courts all around.

καὶ τὸ αἴθριον τῆς πύλης ἔξωθεν εἰς τὸ αἴθριον αιλαμ τῆς πύλης ἔσωθεν πηχῶν πεντήκοντα

And from the forecourt of the outer gate to the forecourt of the inner porch of the gate there were fifty cubits.

καὶ θυρίδες κρυπταὶ ἐπὶ τὰ θεϊμ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ αιλαμ ἔσωθεν τῆς πύλης τῆς αὐλῆς κυκλόθεν καὶ ὡσαύτως τοῖς αιλαμ θυρίδες κύκλῳ ἔσωθεν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ αιλαμ φοίνικες ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν

And there were recessed windows in the guardrooms and in their porches within the gate of the court all around; likewise there were windows in the porches all around within, and on the porches were palm trees on this side and on that side.

καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐσωτέραν καὶ ἰδοὺ παστοφόρια καὶ περίστυλα κύκλῳ τῆς αὐλῆς τριάκοντα παστοφόρια ἐν τοῖς περιστύλοις

And he brought me into the inner court, and behold, chambers and colonnades were all around the court, thirty chambers along the colonnades.

καὶ αἱ στοαὶ κατὰ νώτου τῶν πυλῶν κατὰ τὸ μῆκος τῶν πυλῶν τὸ περίστυλον τὸ ὑποκάτω

And the porticoes ran behind the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates: this was the lower colonnade.

καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὸ πλάτος τῆς αὐλῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰθρίου τῆς πύλης τῆς ἐξωτέρας ἔσωθεν ἐπὶ τὸ αἴθριον τῆς πύλης τῆς βλεπούσης ἔξω πήχεις ἑκατόν τῆς βλεπούσης κατ' ἀνατολάς καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με ἐπὶ βορρᾶν

And he measured the width of the court from the inner side of the outer gate to the outer side of the inner gate, a hundred cubits eastward; then he led me toward the north.

καὶ ἰδοὺ πύλη βλέπουσα πρὸς βορρᾶν τῇ αὐλῇ τῇ ἐξωτέρᾳ καὶ διεμέτρησεν αὐτήν τό τε μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ πλάτος

And behold, there was a gate facing north in the outer court; and he measured its length and its width.

καὶ τὰ θεε τρεῖς ἔνθεν καὶ τρεῖς ἔνθεν καὶ τὰ αιλευ καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω καὶ τοὺς φοίνικας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγένετο κατὰ τὰ μέτρα τῆς πύλης τῆς βλεπούσης κατὰ ἀνατολὰς πηχῶν πεντήκοντα τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ πηχῶν εἴκοσι πέντε τὸ εὖρος αὐτῆς

Its guardrooms, three on this side and three on that side, its jambs, its porches, and its palm trees had the same measurements as the gate facing east: its length was fifty cubits and its width twenty-five cubits.

καὶ αἱ θυρίδες αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω καὶ οἱ φοίνικες αὐτῆς καθὼς ἡ πύλη ἡ βλέπουσα κατὰ ἀνατολάς καὶ ἐν ἑπτὰ κλιμακτῆρσιν ἀνέβαινον ἐπ' αὐτήν καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω ἔσωθεν

And its windows and its porches and its palm trees were according to the gate that faced east; and one went up to it by seven steps, and its porches were within.

καὶ πύλη τῇ αὐλῇ τῇ ἐσωτέρᾳ βλέπουσα ἐπὶ πύλην τοῦ βορρᾶ ὃν τρόπον τῆς πύλης τῆς βλεπούσης κατὰ ἀνατολάς καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὴν αὐλὴν ἀπὸ πύλης ἐπὶ πύλην πήχεις ἑκατόν

And a gate of the inner court faced the north gate, just as with the gate facing east; and he measured from gate to gate a hundred cubits.

καὶ ἤγαγέν με κατὰ νότον καὶ ἰδοὺ πύλη βλέπουσα πρὸς νότον καὶ διεμέτρησεν αὐτὴν καὶ τὰ θεε καὶ τὰ αιλευ καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω κατὰ τὰ μέτρα ταῦτα

And he led me toward the south, and behold, there was a gate facing south; and he measured it and its guardrooms and its porches according to these measurements.

καὶ αἱ θυρίδες αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω κυκλόθεν καθὼς αἱ θυρίδες τοῦ αιλαμ πηχῶν πεντήκοντα τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ πηχῶν εἴκοσι πέντε τὸ εὖρος αὐτῆς

And its windows and its porches were all around like those windows; its length was fifty cubits and its width twenty-five cubits.

καὶ ἑπτὰ κλιμακτῆρες αὐτῇ καὶ αιλαμμω ἔσωθεν καὶ φοίνικες αὐτῇ εἷς ἔνθεν καὶ εἷς ἔνθεν ἐπὶ τὰ αιλευ

And it had seven steps with its porches within, and it had palm trees, one on this side and one on that side, on its jambs.

καὶ πύλη κατέναντι πύλης τῆς αὐλῆς τῆς ἐσωτέρας πρὸς νότον καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὴν αὐλὴν ἀπὸ πύλης ἐπὶ πύλην πήχεις ἑκατὸν τὸ εὖρος πρὸς νότον

And there was a gate of the inner court opposite the southern gate; and he measured from gate to gate a hundred cubits toward the south.

καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐσωτέραν τῆς πύλης τῆς πρὸς νότον καὶ διεμέτρησεν τὴν πύλην κατὰ τὰ μέτρα ταῦτα

And he brought me into the inner court by the gate toward the south, and he measured the gate according to these measurements.

καὶ τὰ θεε καὶ τὰ αιλευ καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω κατὰ τὰ μέτρα ταῦτα καὶ θυρίδες αὐτῇ καὶ τῷ αιλαμμω κύκλῳ πήχεις πεντήκοντα τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ εὖρος πήχεις εἴκοσι πέντε

And its guardrooms and its jambs and its porches were according to these measurements, and it had windows around it and around its porches; its length was fifty cubits and its width twenty-five cubits.

καὶ αιλαμμω εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐξωτέραν καὶ φοίνικες τῷ αιλευ καὶ ὀκτὼ κλιμακτῆρες

And its porches opened toward the outer court, and palm trees were on its jambs, and it had eight steps.

And he brought me to the gate facing east, and he measured it according to these measurements.

καὶ τὰ θεε καὶ τὰ αιλευ καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω κατὰ τὰ μέτρα ταῦτα καὶ θυρίδες αὐτῇ καὶ τῷ αιλαμμω κύκλῳ πήχεις πεντήκοντα μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ εὖρος πήχεις εἴκοσι πέντε

And its porches opened toward the inner court, and palm trees were on its jambs, on this side and on that side, and it had eight steps.

And he brought me to the gate toward the north and measured it according to these measurements.

καὶ τὰ θεε καὶ τὰ αιλευ καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω καὶ θυρίδες αὐτῇ κύκλῳ καὶ τῷ αιλαμμω αὐτῆς πήχεις πεντήκοντα μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ εὖρος πήχεις εἴκοσι πέντε

Its guardrooms and its jambs and its porches and its windows were all around, and around its porch; its length was fifty cubits and its width twenty-five cubits.

καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐξωτέραν καὶ φοίνικες τῷ αιλευ ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν καὶ ὀκτὼ κλιμακτῆρες αὐτῇ

And its porches opened toward the outer court, and palm trees were on its jambs, on this side and on that side, and it had eight steps.

τὰ παστοφόρια αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ θυρώματα αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ αιλαμμω αὐτῆς ἐπὶ τῆς πύλης

And its chambers and its doorways and its porches were by the gate.

τῆς δευτέρας ἔκρυσις ὅπως σφάζωσιν ἐν αὐτῇ τὰ ὑπὲρ ἁμαρτίας καὶ ὑπὲρ ἀγνοίας

At the second porch there was a recess so that they might slaughter there the offerings for sin and for ignorance.

καὶ κατὰ νώτου τοῦ ῥόακος τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων τῆς βλεπούσης πρὸς βορρᾶν δύο τράπεζαι πρὸς ἀνατολὰς καὶ κατὰ νώτου τῆς δευτέρας καὶ τοῦ αιλαμ τῆς πύλης δύο τράπεζαι κατὰ ἀνατολάς

And by the side of the portico of the burnt offerings, toward the north-facing gate, there were two tables to the east; and by the side of the second porch and of the porch of the gate there were two tables toward the east.

τέσσαρες ἔνθεν καὶ τέσσαρες ἔνθεν κατὰ νώτου τῆς πύλης ἐπ' αὐτὰς σφάξουσι τὰ θύματα κατέναντι τῶν ὀκτὼ τραπεζῶν τῶν θυμάτων

Four on this side and four on that side, by the side of the gate; upon them they would slaughter the victims before the eight tables of sacrifice.

καὶ τέσσαρες τράπεζαι τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων λίθιναι λελαξευμέναι πήχεος καὶ ἡμίσους τὸ πλάτος καὶ πήχεων δύο καὶ ἡμίσους τὸ μῆκος καὶ ἐπὶ πῆχυν τὸ ὕψος ἐπ' αὐτὰς ἐπιθήσουσιν τὰ σκεύη ἐν οἷς σφάζουσιν ἐκεῖ τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ τὰ θύματα

And there were four tables for the burnt offerings, of hewn stone, a cubit and a half in width and two cubits and a half in length, and a cubit in height; upon them they would place the implements with which they slaughter the burnt offerings and the sacrifices there.

καὶ παλαιστὴν ἕξουσιν γεῖσος λελαξευμένον ἔσωθεν κύκλῳ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς τραπέζας ἐπάνωθεν στέγας τοῦ καλύπτεσθαι ἀπὸ τοῦ ὑετοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς ξηρασίας

And there was a carved coping a span wide within, all around, and over the tables there were roofs so that they might be sheltered from the rain and from the drought.

καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐσωτέραν καὶ ἰδοὺ δύο ἐξέδραι ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῇ ἐσωτέρᾳ μία κατὰ νώτου τῆς πύλης τῆς βλεπούσης πρὸς βορρᾶν φέρουσα πρὸς νότον καὶ μία κατὰ νώτου τῆς πύλης τῆς πρὸς νότον βλεπούσης δὲ πρὸς βορρᾶν

And he brought me into the inner court, and behold, there were two chambers in the inner court, one by the side of the gate facing north and looking south, and one by the side of the south gate facing north.
