The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 41ΙΕΖΕΚΙΗΛ ΜΑ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

The inner sanctuary and temple structures are measured in ordered detail.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Ezekiel 41 moves from the porch into the sanctuary itself and is therefore the natural continuation of the threshold-focused survey of chapter 40. The opening verses define the entrance, the nave, and the innermost chamber explicitly named τὸ ἅγιον τῶν ἁγίων, after which the chapter expands outward again to the wall-thickness, side chambers, offsets, surrounding free spaces, and the western building opposite the remainder area. The second half is especially significant because architecture yields to ornament and furnishing: paneled woodwork, latticed windows, cherubim alternating with palm trees, the two-faced cherubic imagery, the squared openings, the wooden altar-table before the Lord, and the carved double doors. As in the previous chapter, several specialized terms appear in transliterated or technically opaque form in the imported text, and the safest house style is to preserve the architectural sense without overclaiming lexical certainty where the Greek tradition itself is specialized. Theologically the chapter stresses not sacrifice this time but proximity and representation: the sanctuary is measured, enclosed, decorated, and fitted as the ordered place of divine presence. Versification follows the LXX.
