The Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 25ΙΕΡΕΜΙΑΣ ΚΕ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Judah's refusal brings seventy years, and Elam too is shattered then restored.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Jeremiah 25 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. Opens with Jeremiah dating his ministry's appeal and rehearsing years of ignored prophetic summons: Judah was called to turn from evil ways, abandon alien gods, and remain securely in the land, yet refused to listen. The result is a decree of devastation, the removal of festal joy, and a fixed period of servitude among the nations for seventy years before the Lord visits Babylon itself with judgment. In the LXX ordering preserved here, the chapter's latter movement then shifts to the oracle against Elam: its military strength is broken, its people are scattered to the winds, the divine throne is set in judgment over it, and yet its captivity is ultimately reversed in the latter days. Greek versification is followed here.
