Creation is ordered, fed, and sustained by the majestic Lord whose wisdom fills the world.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 103 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. Creation is ordered, fed, and sustained by the majestic Lord whose wisdom fills the whole world. The poem moves from divine vesture of light and the architecture of heaven into the founding of the earth, the bounding of the waters, the provision of springs, plants, wine, bread, and habitats for beasts and birds. It then traces the rhythms of moon, night, lions, sun, labor, sea-life, and daily dependence on the Creator's open hand. It closes in praise, delight, and trembling awe: the Lord rejoices in his works, the singer resolves to sing while he lives, and the final wish asks that sinners disappear so the whole creation may bless the Lord without contradiction. Versification follows the LXX.
