The Book of Psalms, Chapter 18ΨΑΛΜΟΙ ΙΗ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Creation speaks, the Lord's law shines, and the worshiper prays to be kept from hidden sin.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 18 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as represented in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition. In LXX numbering this chapter corresponds to Psalm 19 in the Hebrew tradition and moves in a carefully ordered sequence from cosmic revelation to Torah revelation to personal prayer. The heavens and firmament proclaim God's glory without speech, the sun is described in vivid bridal and athletic imagery, the perfection and sweetness of the Lord's law and testimonies are celebrated in a clustered series of predicates, and the chapter closes by turning inward toward hidden faults, presumptuous sins, and the desire that speech and meditation be acceptable before the Lord. Versification follows the LXX.
