The Book of Psalms, Chapter 44ΨΑΛΜΟΙ ΜΔ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

A royal wedding song exalts the king, the bride, and a throne upheld by righteousness.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 44 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. This royal wedding ode praises the king in language that is at once courtly and theological: the poet celebrates the beloved ruler's beauty, arms, justice, and everlasting throne, then turns to the bride, summoning her into the king's house and ending with a promise of dynastic memory and worldwide praise. In Christian reception the psalm became especially significant because verses 7-8 address the king with language that Hebrews 1 applies to the Son, yet within the psalm itself the poem retains the vivid textures of procession, fragrance, gold, and festal joy. Versification follows the LXX.
