The Book of Psalms, Chapter 53ΨΑΛΜΟΙ ΝΓ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Betrayal drives a compact plea for vindication, upheld by confidence that God is helper and judge.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 53 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. It combines a liturgical heading, a historical notice about the Ziphites' betrayal, and a compact prayer for vindication. David asks to be saved by God's name and judged by God's power because hostile outsiders and ruthless men are seeking his life without regard for God. The center of the poem turns from plea to confidence: God is helper and sustainer, enemy evil will recoil, and the singer vows freewill sacrifice and thanksgiving in response to deliverance already anticipated and remembered. Versification follows the LXX.
