The Book of Tobit, Chapter 13ΤΩΒΙΤ ΙΓ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

A psalm-like hymn appears here after household restoration but is oriented far beyond the family, extending Tobit's personal mercy into a theology of exile, repentance, regathering, and Jerusalem's future glory.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Tobit 13 follows the standard Septuagint form represented in the imported critical-text base. A psalm-like hymn appears here after household restoration but is oriented far beyond the family, extending Tobit's personal mercy into a theology of exile, repentance, regathering, and Jerusalem's future glory. Its movement from diaspora confession to Zion praise shows that the healing of Tobit's house is meant to foreshadow the wider healing of Israel under the reign of the living God.
