Theme

Tobit 6 is the book's chapter of hidden provision.

Translation & textual notes

Tobit 6 is the book's chapter of hidden provision. A dangerous encounter at the Tigris becomes the source of the very remedies that will later drive away the demon afflicting Sarah and heal Tobit's eyes, while Raphael simultaneously redirects the journey toward its lawful marital end. The chapter's theological center lies in the way providence works through material means, kinship law, prayer, and obedient courage: Tobias is taught not only what to carry but how to think about fear, marriage, and mercy.
