1 Chronicles 25ΠΑΡΑΛΕΙΠΟΜΕΝΩΝ Α′ ΚΕ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

The chapter is one of the strongest witnesses to the Chronicler's theology of worship. Musical ministry is not merely aesthetic; it is described with verbs of prophecy and with carefully named leaders and sons.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of 1 Chronicles 25 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs–Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. The chapter is one of the strongest witnesses to the Chronicler's theology of worship. Musical ministry is not merely aesthetic; it is described with verbs of prophecy and with carefully named leaders and sons. Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun stand as the patriarchs of ordered praise, and their descendants are counted and arranged by lot like other temple servants. This combination of spiritual utterance and administrative regularity is striking: the inspired song of Israel is cultivated within fixed liturgical structures. The Greek keeps both the technical names and the prophetic terminology. The result is a chapter that refuses the false choice between charismatic vitality and institutional order. In the Chronicler's world, the Spirit-suffused praise of God is most secure when faithfully ordered.

The chapter opens by linking court authority and liturgical service. Musical ministry is not casual ornament but a publicly ordered work entrusted to named houses.
