1 Chronicles 26ΠΑΡΑΛΕΙΠΟΜΕΝΩΝ Α′ ΚϚ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

The gatekeepers are listed by families and assigned by lot to specific gates, highlighting responsibility, vigilance, and fairness.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of 1 Chronicles 26 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs–Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. The gatekeepers are listed by families and assigned by lot to specific gates, highlighting responsibility, vigilance, and fairness. The chapter then moves to treasuries and dedicated gifts, showing that the material wealth bound to worship must be handled by accountable ministers. Finally, officers and judges are named for external affairs, demonstrating how sacred administration reaches beyond the sanctuary building itself. The Greek's procedural plainness is part of the chapter's force: no romanticism obscures the fact that holiness depends on ordinary fidelity in stations, storehouses, and supervision. Chronicles sees such ordering not as secular distraction but as part of the service of God.
