The Second Book of Esdras, Chapter 6ΕΣΔΡΑΣ Β′ Ϛ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

A classical Persian-document sequence appears here: archive search, discovered memorandum, renewed decree, compliance report, and enacted result.

Translation & textual notes

A classical Persian-document sequence appears here: archive search, discovered memorandum, renewed decree, compliance report, and enacted result. The Greek wording keeps close to the administrative texture of the material, especially in the sections concerning expenses, sacrificial supply, and penalties for interference. At the same time, the narrative refuses to let the empire be the chapter's deepest cause. The elders build under prophetic ministry, the house is dedicated by Israel, and the final feast is celebrated because the Lord has made the people rejoice and has bent the foreign king's heart toward them. Administrative ratification serves a theological end.
