Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Deliverance is fixed into memory as victory, rest, and written ordinance become the enduring feast of Purim.

Translation & textual notes

Esther 9 narrates the execution and ritual interpretation of the Jews' deliverance. The first movement records the defeat of their enemies under royal authorization, with Susa receiving special attention through the death of Haman's sons and Esther's request for a second day of action. The middle movement distinguishes the rest day kept in the provinces from the later rest observed in the capital. The final movement turns military survival into liturgical memory as Mordecai and Esther establish the days of Phurim as a perpetual commemoration marked by feasting, gift-sharing, and remembrance of reversal.
