The Book of Isaiah, Chapter 52ΗΣΑΪΑΣ ΝΒ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Zion awakes, the herald arrives, and the servant is lifted up.

Translation & textual notes

Isaiah 52 gathers Zion-restoration, exodus imagery, and servant theology into a tightly staged sequence. The Septuagint emphasizes the city's renewed holiness, the public vindication of the divine name among the nations, and the heralding of salvation as audible good news. The chapter culminates in the opening servant lines that lead into Isaiah 53, where exaltation and humiliation are already held together in paradoxical tension.
