Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Ancient promises and cosmic comfort overturn Jerusalem's cup of wrath.

Translation & textual notes

Isaiah 51 moves from patriarchal memory to cosmic assurance and then to Jerusalem's cup-of-wrath reversal. The Septuagint sharpens the chapter's exhortatory character by repeatedly summoning the audience to hear, look, and wake, while its language of law, light, and salvation extends Zion's restoration toward the nations. The latter half pivots from the imagery of the Lord's ancient sea-victory to Jerusalem's exhaustion under the cup of wrath, only to end with that same cup transferred to her oppressors.
