The Book of Judith, Chapter 14ΙΟΥΔΙΘ ΙΔ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Judith 14 moves from revelation to strategy.

Translation & textual notes

Judith 14 moves from revelation to strategy. The head of Holofernes becomes both sign and military trigger: Judith instructs Bethulia how to exploit the panic that will follow the discovery, Achior confesses Israel's God, and the Assyrian camp collapses internally before Israel ever delivers the full assault. The chapter highlights how divine reversal works through timing, testimony, and enemy disintegration.
