The Book of Psalms, Chapter 60ΨΑΛΜΟΙ Ξ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

From far-off weakness, the prayer reaches for God's shelter and for steadfast love over the king.

Translation & textual notes

The Greek text of Psalms 60 follows the standard critical text of the Septuagint as established in the Rahlfs-Hanhart edition (Septuaginta, rev. ed. 2006), an ancient and public-domain text; the critical apparatus is not reproduced. From the earth's far edge the singer moves from faint-hearted exile into confidence that God's heard vows can secure both shelter and a king's enduring future. The singer cries to God from the ends of the earth when his heart grows faint, asking to be lifted onto a rock too high for him and recalling God as both guide and fortress from the enemy. After a pause the prayer turns toward abiding in God's tent, sheltering under his wings, and trusting that vows have been heard. The closing movement expands from the individual worshiper to the king, asking for length of days, enduring life before God, and the preserving accompaniment of mercy and truth, before ending with a vow of unending praise and daily fulfillment of promised worship. Versification follows the LXX.
