Theme

Remembering the Lord brings steadiness, protection, and answered prayer.

Translation & textual notes

A short beatitude-psalm on devotional readiness and divine preservation dwells on the quiet stability of the one whose heart is prepared to call on the Lord. Unlike the harsher judgment scenes elsewhere in the collection, the blessed person remembers the Lord's name, walks on paths straightened by him, and is guarded from terrifying dreams, dangerous crossings, and chaotic seas. The morning response of blessing and hymn-singing shows that preservation leads into praise, not merely relief. The final verses widen from the individual to the household and then to every hoping soul: the Lord hears prayer offered in the fear of God and brings requests to completion for those who love him in truth. The psalm's tone is sapiential and liturgical at once, presenting prayerful remembrance as the shape of a secure life under God's merciful oversight.
