The Book of Zechariah, Chapter 6ΖΑΧΑΡΙΑΣ Ϛ′

Each verse opens with the running Greek, an English translation, and a discourse note (its connective, relation, and role in the argument). Below follows the word-by-word breakdown in six tiers: gloss, case (color), parsing, syntax, semantic force, and a lexical note.

Case Nominative Genitive Dative Accusative Vocative Verb (no case) Indeclinable

Discourse notes head each verse: relation · connective · clause-flow. Indentation marks prominence — flush-left = main line of argument; indented = supporting / subordinate material.

Theme

Four chariots go out from the Lord of all the earth, and Joshua is crowned as a sign of the coming Branch.

Translation & textual notes

The earlier horse visions are completed by revealing four chariots sent out from before the Lord of all the earth, then joining that cosmic patrol to a symbolic crowning of Joshua the high priest. The Septuagint binds movement and restoration together: divine forces go out to quiet the Lord's wrath in the north, and the prophetic sign of crowns points to the coming 'Anatole,' the figure who will build the Lord's house and unite royal dignity with priestly peace. The chapter therefore moves from heavenly governance over the nations to a temple-centered promise of restoration and obedient hope.

And I turned back and lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four chariots coming out from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze.

Vision reportasyndeton
The final night-vision begins with the same lifted-eye formula as earlier scenes. The bronze mountains frame the chariots as agents issuing from a fixed heavenly threshold.
